Re: onion plant?

nah, the onion plants will be just fine.

even with the best research and conditions, some plants fail, and others that may not typically thrive, do so in spite of odds.

The onion plants are pretty...

Re: tank for sis betta!!!

I'm guessing that your tank is roughly 7 gallons in size...

I realize that I will sound like a heathen, but I have several five gallon tanks and they are not cycled. I've had them for several years...

Re: Betta Fin Rot?

I'm so sorry to hear about your betta's fins :(

In the past I've used Maracyn, Maracyn-2, and tetracylcine; i found that the tetracycline worked the fastest and the best. Triple sulfa also works. ...

Re: Paradise Fish Compatibility

I saw paradise fish at the LFS in a community tank with guppies and barbs. They were eating the guppies! I guess thats nature but wow- I blinked and the one ate a guppy -tail and all in that moment.

Re: filter for betta?

I used an UGF for a while, but too much gunk accumulated under it. I dont bother with filters for my bettas now; I do weekly water changes and that seems to be just fine for them. Their tanks are...

Re: Neon Tetras being trapped in filter tube

The mesh bag should work well; also, a section of pantyhose works well too if you rubberband it around the tube.

Re: Recommendations on proper keeping of Betta fish.

I found a nice five gallon aquarium at Kmart. Its light is behind plastic and doesn't corrode; if you keep the light on, it will maintain a water temp of roughly 76-78 degrees F. It has a hood. ...

Re: Hood question

It looks as if it has a plastic strip on the back... that could be cut to allow for a filter. I used a pair of small garden shears on mine.

Glass can be taken to a shop- typically a frame shop or...

Re: Noobie Fishless Cycling question (long sorry)

I agree that it sounds like a fungus problem but wow- it came on super fast by the sounds of your post. That doesn't mean it can't happen, I guess.

I think Jungle Fungus tables (fizzy ones) would...

Re: Noobie Fishless Cycling question (long sorry)

I agree with Dano's comments re: stress coat & stress zyme. I usually add the stress coat when i add new fish but thats it...

Re: Noobie Fishless Cycling question (long sorry)

Even though you saved the original filter media and used old filter water to rinse it, your new set-up is not cycled.

What kind of water treatment do you use to dechlor & remove the metals? ...

Re: Noobie Fishless Cycling question (long sorry)

what is the source of your water?
(I'm wondering if there is a contaminant in your water.)

Did you save all of the water from the original tank?
(I wouldn't recommend that as something is wrong...

Re: Stocking a 26 Gallon

I think a 26 gallon would be too small for an elephant nose after a while anyway... they can grow to be around 12 -13 inches long. I considered getting one for my tank but I read that they have a...

Re: which test kits are better!!!!

I've used both the API master kit with the test tubes and the strip kits.

The master kit with the test tubes is highly accurate and very easy to read, but its messy. The chemicals can leak or drip....

Re: Tuberculosis in freshwater tanks

I did a lot of reading last night and apparently this does not make the jump to humans easily and it is in fact, present in a large number of aquariums without the owners ever being aware of it. ...
