Default Baby Barb!

My swordtails and platys reproduce like crazy so I'm always looking in my tank for fry. Today I saw a pretty good sized one, but was totally shocked to see it was a neon Barb! I had no idea that one of my barbs was about to spawn, saw no eggs, and I honestly had no idea I had a male and a female. I managed to get the cute little guy out into the nursery tank. I'm very excited, but I'm wondering what the chances are that there are more. I'm willing to bet most of them were lunch as I looked and looked and couldn't see any.

Congrats roncska

I just googled Neon barbs and they seem cool. I read that they are prolific breeders and that the males are more red in color and are skinnier, hopefully that will help you sex them.

Congratulations Roncska! It's so exciting to get fry, except when you had like 10 batches of fry from livebearers . I feel you pain! Good luck with the little fella.

Getting surviving fry from egg scattering fish in a community tank is remarkable. Congratulations!
