Default Flying Silver Dollars?

I came home today and one of my silver dollars which was about an inch and a half in diameter was on my floor dead. It was a sad moment and I'm sure my other silver dollar is lonely. I know hatchet fish fly but i didn't think silver dollars would get the same air. I have some larger Buenos Airies Tetras which are a little more aggressive but not overly. Did this happen by chance or do most fish do this?

Most fish jump occasionally especially if startled.

True, most fish will jump when startled. An easy solution is to get some egg crate (white or transparent) from your local hardware store, cut it so it fits your tank top and it will prevent most fish from taking flight.
