I would have to agree that they are feeling insecure, I have 11 in my tank and they are always first to the top of my tank when it is feeding time. Good luck with getting more, when you choose to

For some reason since I added an Angelfish to that tank, the Skirts have become more brave. They are coming up and feeding along with the Angel. Do I have strange fish or what?!?

Thanks guys.

hehe, whatever works fishlover. My poor babies are still afraid w/ the lights back on in the tank. I should be able to get some more buddies for them soon.

I think what is probably going on with mine is the Angel is pretty aggressive at feeding time and maybe they feel the need to compete now? Before, the food would sit at the top and just float there until it fell down and the Tetras would grab it and run. Now, the Angel is eating it off the top and I think the Tetras think there will be none left for them.

That is a good thing because it would suck if the skirts were to scared to eat and then no food was left for them. I thought about putting some cherry shrimp in with the neons to stimulate the neons. I'm holding off for now.

I noticed daily since I have added my new floor lamp to the fish area that when the tank lights go off my whiteskirts are wild. My floor lamp has 3 settings. I click it down to low at night to have a low light around the tanks so I can still see the fish but the tanks are almost dark. They also love the new anacharis plant. It has grown like wild fire.

The neons are Still not coming up for food. I give up on that now. I dunk all their food for the silly neons. I'm thankful they are eating! I added 2 cherry shrimp and more plastic plants and another cave to the tank. They seem to like the extra cover and shrimp because they swim a little more around the tank.

On another note....Do you think a 2.5g planted cycled tank would be OK for 6 neons or cardnals for a few weeks QT??

The tetras should be ok in the small tank if you watch the water quality and change small amounts weekly.
