Default Ponds

I dont know if there is a section for this, i couldent find one.

My parents have had a pond in the back yard for about 7 years now. We started with about 15 medium size Koy added slowly over the 1st year and they just last year had hundreds of babies.(now about 3 inches long a peice)

The pond is about 15 feet long and 7 feet accross. Its 4 ft deep.

When my dad does his bi anual cleaning in april, he wants to make a gradual increase in one side and make that side 2 ft deep so he can walk in and accross the pond to get to the back to do waterfall and filter maintanance.

Does anyone have any ideas on how to do this?

He is going to try to use bags of play sand in a half pyramid shape and then stones over that. I also sugested some kind of carpet like Java moss or dwarf hairgrass.

What are your thoughts on this idea?
