Hope this link helps...the second last paragraph mentions the difference between the sexes. You may need a magnifying glass to get a good look at the anal/vent area of your goby if it isn't very obvious or prominent.

Glad it helped Loki When searching your question, I just typed into Google telling sex of violet goby. Sometimes you may have to try different combinations of words to bring up something that relates to what you are looking for and sift through many different listings, articles and links before you find the most relevant one.
