Default Malaysian snails?

Are these the same as trumpet snails?

I put three of these in each of my 10 gallon tanks (six snails total) and they are fascinating to watch when you can see them. In the tank with the sand substrate and off the back (powerfilter [Topfin 20]) they burrow completely under the sand durring the day and come out at night. In the tank with the undergravel filter they also get between and under the gravel during the day, but not so deep that you can't find them if you look for them.

These were a quarter each at the pet store and seem to help combat the algae in the tank with the gravel (I put an algae pellet in for plecos to feed the loaches and that algae seems to like the conditions of that tank, but isn't out of control so I am not in combat with the algae yet).

It is interesting to watch these and the one mystery snail that hitched a ride on a plant... the mystery snail is much more active and travels all over the tank.

That is what I know them as...malaysian trumpet snails. They are live bearers. I had some when I first started breeding snails for the puffers until I found out the shell was very hard and a risk to feed the puffers.

I found out it does not take long for MTS, Ramshorns, and pond snails to have babies. They multiple fast.
