Now then, down ladies! it's all getting far too exciting.

Leaving Mr. Gibson aside I have just done a little experiment with different fresh veggy feeds for my community tank. Sugar snap pea pods lightly boiled, have come out by far the most popular. The BN's from underneath whilst all the rest seem to wait patiently in line to have a chomp.

Most of my fish love peas...Good choice! I hate peeling the darn things, though, and they won't touch them unpeeled...not even the cichlids! Spoiled brats!!!

Not being able to ride the cable car up to Ben Nevis and having to settle for the glen was great. I could not believe my ears when they said "duno what they are filming in that there glen (I'm not very good at writing in a scottish accent) but Mel Gibson is starring in the film. Well when we got there, there were hundreds of hairy men all in kilts and sacking with blue paint all over their faces. With hindsight we knew what was going on but really quite confusing watching from the side lines as every extra around was practising thrusting their swords about and fighting all over the place.

Now down to earth - yes that's right, we were talking about BN plecs and boiled peas. Yep great diet for fish

The bristle nose cat fish is a great choice. They actualy thrive off algea unlike the pleco. I have one male bristle nose about 6 inchs. Make sure you have a peice of bog wood in there for them. They like to rasp on the wood. Do you have a male and female... The males will have the the the bristles all over his head were as the female would have none to a few.

Yea Jason. Only had them for a short while but I really like them - in fact they make me laugh the way they suddenly scamper around after a nice bite of juicy bogwood.
I have no idea what sex they are as they are only just over an inch long but hoping for a pair. What is difference between pleco and catfish or bristlenose?

Do you know witch speices of bristlenose you have ?? There are so many types of plecos and bristlenoses, it would take all day to tell the differeneces.
In most cases the pleco is know to grow quite large. Where as the bristlenose grow up to 6 inchs.

hey Tetra - i have googled myself silly and it looks as though I have 2 Ancistrus cirrhosus. As to difference between plecs/catfish I am still none the wiser - maybe plecs is just a generic name?

Anyway happy christmas to you

Not sure if this helps any, but the Plecostomus is a catfish, it's just one of the many genera (similar species) belonging to the catfish family.

You are correct Richard....the “Pleco” is just the very generic term/name used because there are literally hundreds of them in that genus as Jason mentioned.
