Default Heaters for betta fish?

I've been getting a ton of mixed info on this.

My aquarium is 2 gallons so it's small. I do have a thermometer and so far the water temp has not gone below 70* (it's been around 73'ish). The room that the fish is in, is a very warm room so I don't want to make it too hot for her.

According to the book "Bettas" by Marshall E. Ostrow published in 1980 "An aquarium constantly maintained at about 80 degrees F. is a bit too warm for most hobby fishes but not for bettas. In fact, 80 degrees F is just about ideal for most bettas."

A heater would be good so you can keep a constant temperature.

Agree with both replies. 80 is a sweet spot for bettas. A fluctuating temperature invites disease....you can buy small heaters for that tank that will keep the temp constant...

Here is a small heater that will work for you. http://www.drsfostersmith.com/produc...7&pcatid=12087. I have also so seen this type heater at chain pet stores as well.

I use a heater in my goldfish tank as well, so it stays consistent and she is very happy with it.

Best Regards,
Norm
