Default Fish water

When your fish water smells does that indicate it needs a water change?

A light earthy smell is natural(like fresh garden soil).....A strong musty or fishy smell indicates a lot of decay......Do 10 to 15% water changes every other day for four times.....Vacuum up all debris and lightly stir the gravel.....Rinse the filter material every time......

After a couple of water changes you might run some activated carbon....Watch the debris build up and re think your feeding routine.
